What are the reasons for abnormal wear of chemical engine cylinder liner?

Publish Time: 2025-03-27
Abnormal wear of chemical engine cylinder liner is a common and thorny problem in the chemical industry. As an important component of the engine, the wear resistance of the cylinder liner is directly related to the performance and life of the engine. However, in actual applications, the cylinder liner often suffers from abnormal wear, which not only shortens the service life of the engine, but also may cause a series of failures, affecting production efficiency and safety.

First, poor lubrication conditions are one of the main reasons for abnormal wear of the cylinder liner. The upper part of the cylinder liner is close to the combustion chamber, the working environment is harsh, the temperature is high and the lubrication conditions are poor. The flushing and dilution of fresh air and unvaporized fuel aggravates the deterioration of the upper working conditions, causing the cylinder liner to be in a dry friction or semi-dry friction state in the initial stage, thereby accelerating wear. In addition, the oil film on the surface of the cylinder liner is easily destroyed, and effective lubrication cannot be formed, which further aggravates wear.

Secondly, the acidic working environment is also an important factor leading to abnormal wear of the cylinder liner. In the cylinder, the combustible mixture will produce water vapor and acidic oxides after combustion. These substances dissolve in water to form inorganic acids. Together with the organic acids produced during combustion, the cylinder liner always works in an acidic environment. This acidic environment corrodes the surface of the cylinder, and the corrosive substances are gradually scraped off by the piston ring during friction, causing the cylinder liner to deform and wear.

In addition, the entry of mechanical impurities into the cylinder is also an important reason for aggravating the wear of the cylinder liner. Due to the working principle and working environment of the engine, dust in the air and impurities in the lubricating oil can easily enter the cylinder, causing wear between the piston and the cylinder wall. When dust or impurities reciprocate with the piston in the cylinder, the movement speed of the middle part of the cylinder is the highest, thus aggravating the wear of the middle part of the cylinder.

In addition, some improper use and maintenance behaviors can also cause abnormal wear of the cylinder liner. For example, if the air filter is not cleaned and maintained for a long time, the filtering effect is poor, which will accelerate the wear of the cylinder liner; long-term low-temperature operation will lead to poor combustion and carbon deposits, which will spread from the upper part of the cylinder liner and cause serious abrasive wear on the upper part of the cylinder liner during the reciprocating motion of the piston; if the maintenance is not carried out according to the prescribed time and mileage, the oil will deteriorate and lose its lubricating effect, which will also accelerate the wear of the cylinder liner.

A series of measures can be taken to prevent the problem of abnormal wear of the cylinder liner. For example, improve the lubrication conditions and choose suitable lubricants and coolants; strengthen the maintenance of the filter to ensure that the air filter, oil filter, and fuel filter are in good working condition; maintain the normal working temperature of the engine to avoid adverse effects of too low or too high temperature on the cylinder liner; and strictly perform maintenance according to the prescribed time and mileage, and replace the oil and filter in time.

In summary, the reasons for abnormal wear of the chemical engine cylinder liner are complex and diverse, and need to be comprehensively considered and dealt with from multiple aspects. By improving the working environment, strengthening maintenance and taking preventive measures, the service life of the cylinder liner can be effectively extended and the performance and reliability of the engine can be improved.
